The painting on the back cover of The Adventures Before Breakfast of Alice and Pepper is an acrylic, folk art rendition of a slice of the Hedger Farm—a registered, Canadian Heritage Farm, located in the Gulf Islands of BC. The children sleigh riding in the foreground are the Hedger children, circa 1953. As the reader bounds along with Alice on her adventures, stretching across the 200 acre farm, some of her favorite places may be recognized in the painting. Enjoy!
